Pipeline Dio - bits and pieces

Some bits of scrap metal (Plastruct channel) and a skip (also Plastruct with lots of scrap pieces painted in all sorts of colours to try to replicate the sort of thing you might find in a skip) - this will all be part of the pipeline dio.

Franke MAN TGA progress

Cab is now decalled. They're from Dreamdoock.de of Germany and are of excellent quality. Tarps are made from painted kitchen foil which has been cut and folded-over several times.

Franke MAN TGA painting

It took a long time to mask-off the stripes but there were no paint runs - I'm really happy with how it came out. Lockers were primed in grey and came out much darker than the red on the cab so I'll probably re-paint that with white primer and red again so that they match.

Pipeline Dio

For the Heavy Equipment Model Show (Oct 23rd) near Burnley, I'm working on a diorama. The Volvo ADT was exhibited at the last show in April but I decided to expand it to include other vehicles to represent pictures in a German book by Podszun about pipeline vehicles.

This MAN is a Conrad cab (one of 5 I bought off Ebay) on a Tekno chassis. It's had a flatbed built and has been weathered. It's meant to represent a hard-worked site truck which is being used until it falls-apart.

Generator was made from Plasticard, as were the pipes. The pipes were primed and then drybrushed in a rust colour.

On the workbench - Aug 2011 - Franke MAN TGA

Some pics of what's happening on the workbench. This is kind of how it looks at the moment - Liontoys MAN TGA 8x4 converted to W&F Franke 6x4. I disassembled the model about 5 years ago and lost interest when I couldn't find the correct colour to paint it.

Chain rack and lockers scratch-built from Plasticard.
Tamiya rotating painting stand is highly recommended. The paint is from LifeColour and is water soluble.
